Scott Frank

I was an Infantryman in the Army from Mar 2011 to Jul 2014. In Nov 2013, my unit deployed to FOB Spin Boldak (Kandahar province, RC South). Before deployment, I'd already begun to be radicalized, and once there, I saw these people for who they were. Not the monsters just waiting, on a hair trigger, to kill us. Just people who were kind, who shared what little they had. We talked in our broken Pashtu/English combo, we ate rice, and had chai. They were people who didn't want tanks and uniforms and drones everywhere. They were me and you and everyone else. No matter what this corrupt state tried to do, tried to brainwash us into little worker bees who saw nothing but what we were told to, I was able to see the truth. And I can't sit idly by while these suited monsters continue to wage war on the innocent, to rain hellfire down from tens, hundreds, and even thousands, of miles away.
