Ryan Holleran
Ryan Holleran was born in California and enlisted as an Army Infantryman out of Portland, Oregon in Oct 2010. He was deployed for 10 months to Iraq in 2011. He spoke out against militarism while Active Duty, first through Under the Hood Cafe and Outreach Center as a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War. Ryan was a volunteer at Under the Hood Cafe beginning shortly after his return from Iraq and evolving into a roll as either Advisory Board member or as a Board Member sense his relocation to California. Ryan has been responsible for outreach to Active Duty Soldiers, Organizing weekly community events at the Cafe, as well as opening and closing the space throughout the week. Ryan participated in the Fort Hood Report contributing his personal testimony and conducting and transcribing interviews for a number of participants. He served a large roll in Iraq Veterans Against the War’s “Right To Heal” campaign; fighting for Service Members rights. He has represented Under the Hood Cafe in a numbers conferences and conventions to include the Allied Media Conference in Detroit, National Conventions for Veterans for Peace and Iraq Veterans Against the War. Ryan has been involved with the IVAW Speaker Bureau taking interview from Democracy Now, RTTV and Pacifica Radio. Ryan lives in Oakland, CA and serves on the Board of Directors for the Fort Hood Support Network. He continues to serve IVAW as a leader in the San Francisco/Bay Area chapter as a Volunteer Organizer. .
