Garett Reppenhagen joined the US Army Cavalry one month before September 11th. He was stationed in Vilseck Germany and performed a nine month peace keeping mission in Kosovo in 02-03. Reppenhagen passed the sniper International Interdiction Course before deploying to Iraq in January 2004. Under Stop-Loss Garett performed sniper missions in and around Baquaba in the Diyala Province for one year. While in service in Iraq he was outspoken against the war in one of the first military blogs "Fight to Survive" which he shared with a handful of fellow soldiers. Garett joined IVAW while deployed in the summer of 2004. After being Honorably Discharged on May 2005 Reppenhagen has become a veterans advocate in Washington DC, become a published song writer when his lyrics were used by the Bouncing Souls in their song "Letter from Iraq", has appeared in the book "What Was Asked of Us" by Trish Wood and has been on various television stations, print media and radio programs.
