Thoughts of Revolution

We need not be scared to clash with our thoughts. That is the ideal.

You are very intelligent and have a lot to say which is greatly appreciated. I hope my ability to listen is as great as my ability to convey my thoughts without my ego getting in the way.

One of the biggest problems we have, is that we give power to other people. But this "power" comes from our thoughts and words that we speak. We say he is president or prime minister but if no one believed it then they would lose their "power". We need to empower ourselves and we do that in what we believe in.
No violence needed. It then becomes a useless tool that no longer fits the problem. Granted the president can order troops to force you out of your house and arrest you. But don't forget that all that started from the presidents order, his words, his thoughts and the thoughts of the soldiers to obey out of fear of reprisal.
And for the violence that comes to you, I feel a spritual sense is needed. Because we cannot fear death. Knowing that we are eternal souls helps. And when we use peaceful resistence it show our humanity that will be recognized by our assailents because they are human as well. When we use violence against another we objectify that person. We create divisions and label that person as something other than a human being. A child of God. We break those divisions and show ourselves as we truly are we cease to have enemies. As Jesus said, Love your enemies. I say, when you love your enemies you cease to have them.
All this is a choice. But we must remember that this choice is always available. Always. Choose betwen fear and love. Love is God. Fear is weak. No one said this was going to be easy. To serve love takes great courage.
You also mentioned economics. Jesus did as well. For good reason. Martin Luther King talked about the triple evils. War, Racism and Poverty. These are all connected and to address one without the other will always lead to failure.
If people had a good job with a livable wage, a roof over their heads, food for their family, a full education, free health care, and time to sing and dance, they would never need to feel the fear and anger that leads to violence.
All these things can come when we stop spending all our money on guns and using racism to split the people. Redirect that energy to build the world that we want. And stop blaming others so that we can energize ourselves. Give that Love. Lose that fear.

I hope I don't to much like a hippy. After all I am a combat veteran. All I know is that what I experienced in Iraq changed me. We have to find better ways than that. But need to stop looking outside of ourselves and start looking inside.

Peace and looking foward to your response, Hart
