Here are some of the works that have opened my eyes.
Viewing and Reading List
A People’s History of the Untied States – Howard Zinn
This Book is the authoritative history on what our past conceals. Genocide, oppression, racism, slavery are too often sold as discovery, progress, and honor with rare and minor blemishes. I never looked at the world the same after I read this book. If you are looking for a really fun alternaitve try the kid friendly "A People's Guide to American Empire."
Passionate Declarations – Howard Zinn
Following the same narrative, Passionate Declarations invigorated my hunger for alternative perspectives.
Ishmael – Daniel Quinn
I could not put this book down. Overpopulation and the human pandemic is not ever talked about in mainstream discourse, Ishmael makes compelling arguments about the direction of civilization. Other books I found interesting form this author were “My Ishmael,” and “The Story of B.”
War is a Racket – General Smedley Butler (USMC)
In Marine Corps basic Training every marine needs to learn the name of the only Marine officer to win two medals of Honor. Smedley Butler has an entire Marine Corps base named after him in Japan, and he is one of the Marine Corps' most honored heroes, yet most Marines never hear about what General Butler did after his career being a “gangster for capitalism.”
Manufacturing Consent – Noam Chomsky
The most comprehensive look at how the propaganda we call the media operates. Chomsky is one of the most renowned radical scholars in the world and this is one of his best.
Propaganda and the Public Mind – Noam Chomsky
Interviews with Chomsky about the current affairs of the 90s.
American Fascists – Chris Hedges
Sinclair Lewis said, “When Fascism comes to America it will be draped in a flag and carrying a cross.” I picked “American Fascists” up at a train station and was blown away with how precisely Hedges articulates the danger we face from religious extremists. The book is urgent and very thoughtfully written.
The Prophet – Kahlil Gibran
Gibran's works inspire me; he makes every single word as meaningful and well placed as it can be. My favorite passages, which are written from the perspective of a prophet who is imparting his knowledge to his friends and neighbors, are the poems about children, love and giving.
Oil Power and Empire – Larry Everest
The title basically covers it; this is a great book to read if you want to more deeply understand the situation in Iraq and why we are there.
Blackwater – Jeremy Scahill
This book covers, in detail, the rise of mercenaries in the United States. Scahill provides stunning context and I found it extremely hard to put down.
Weapons of Mass Deception – John Stauber
In case you wanted to read about the specific lies echoed to us by the media about the war in Iraq. The press is supposed to be a watchdog; instead, it is a lap dog.
The Turning – Andrew Hunt
Useful for veterans wanting to be part of a movement to end the war, in fact, it is about how the Vietnam Veterans against the War did just that.
Addicted to War
This book should be in every elementary, middle and high school in the world. It is full of illustrations and a narrative of most of America’s military interventions... There are a lot of those.
Confessions of an Economic Hit man – John Perkins
It is hard to believe people like this exist, but it helps to explain exactly how the US maintains its empire.
Stupid White Men – Michael Moore
This book really opened my eyes to the extent of the criminality of our government. I read it when I was in high school – just after Bush was appointed as our president in 2001. It clarified how fucked up it was that the Florida election was completely rigged and no one could do anything about it with the mechanisms they provide us. Then it goes on to show how the appointment of powerful positions goes to corporate sentinels and other connected people. It disgusted me.
The Franklin Cover Up –
Think it’s bad? Did you know that our leaders are intimately bound up with child molestation? Don’t believe me? Just look at the information, it is all there; make up your own mind.
Infinite Love is the only Truth, Everything Else is Illusion – David Icke
This book is only for the ready. I think Icke is a rare conduit of truth in our world and the title is the message of the book. All of our assumptions mean nothing and everything. All of your philosophical moorings will be challenged by Icke.
The Hunt for Zero Point – Nick Cook
My friend Matt Howard (IVAW) gave this book to me. Did you know that the Nazis developed all sorts of high tech secret weapons that pioneered antigravity? They did, and then Americans got their hands on it. The guy who writes this book has very strong credentials as an aeronautics/defense industry journalist.
Standing Up to the Madness – Amy and John Goodman
Very contemporary look at the attacks on freedoms, the environment and peace and the ordinary people among us standing up to the madness. I think it would be a great book for a person who is not yet exposed to radicalism yet is open to very critical information.
Nourishing Traditions – Sally Fallon
This book is my nutrition bible. The food we eat determines who we are and how we interact with the world. My health is phenomenally better after discovering this book.
The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions
If you think the government is not capable of killing its own people? Think again. This book is an extremely scholarly and academic approach to finding every flaw in the official 9/11 commission report and exposing it to the scrutiny of common sense.
The Diversity of Life – E.O Wilson
A prolific scientist writes about the earth’s fragile balance and how eco systems are threatened by human impact.
Almost any book by Dr Deepak Chopra or Dr WayneDier
Home to War- Gerald Nicosia
Ulysses in Vietnam
Chalmers Johnson
This guy has three books, that I hear are extremely important reads: “Blowback,” “Nemesis,” and
The Secret-
This film completely nails it. My philosophy on life is reflected almost to a T in this documentary about the laws of attraction
Evidence of Revision
The JFK Assassination, the RFK assassination, MK-Ultra and CIA mind control experiment. This film is an extremely thorough account of how our government killed JFK, RFK, and covered it up for - or tried to- for decades. There are MANY primary sources and very little speculation in the great documentary.
Conspiracy of Silence
This is the film version of The Franklin cover up. This was scheduled to air on the Discovery Channel in the Early 1990s, it was in the TV guide for that week, but it was canceled a few days before because it was too damaging to the power elite exposed as child rapists. Available online.
Zeitgeist
Goes into the greatest lies of our time. This film asserts that Christianity is a form of sun worship used to control people, 9/11 was orchestrated by the US government and the Federal Reserve is a tool to enslave the nation in debt. I love it. Available online.
The Mena Cover Up
Somehow the Clintons seem to avoid the spot light when it comes to there role in scandalous conspiracies. It turns out that when Clinton was a governor he had very interesting friends involved in drug smuggling and Bill helped to cover up a few murders for them. Available online.
JFK
Oliver Stone made the best feature film about the true story of New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison and his investigation into the JFK assassination. I watched this movie when I was 17 and I almost cried with anger.
V for Vendetta
A good social commentary and a warning about the way fear is used to control people.
The Matrix
When this came out I thought it was some immature action flick with cool special affects. I didn’t get why people thought it was deep. It is a powerful analogy for what we think is reality. Deeply philosophical movie.
Good Will Hunting
I love this movie.
War Made Easy
Why is war easy, because the media is the indoctrination mouthpiece of the government and they have the same interest in selling war and slavery.
Why We Fight
Why do we fight? According to this documentary we should not forget about the Military Industrial Complex and its role in the system.
An Inconvenient Truth
Al Gore presents some interesting information about global warming. If we can trust anything it is the photos of several glaciers across the world disappearing, I think it is a sign things are getting warmer. I have since heard some theories that other planets in our solar system, ie Mars, is experiencing polar melting. If this is the case, I think it is imperative that humanity consider adapting to and mitigating the damage of climate change, however I think it is equally important that we do not get sucked into a prison of fear about human activity being the sole cause of this phenomenon
Meeting Resistance
A British and an American Reporter actually conducting journalism worth the name by interviewing Iraqi resistance fighters.
Brass Check TV
This website is a great source for all things conspiracy.
David Icke Live at Brixton Academy
Like I said about his book, Icke is a rare conduit for truth. His 6 hour lecture will blow you away.
What the Bleep Do We Know
I used to think Quantum Physics was for book worms, I was wrong; it is the story about how all science is merely an illusion. Our minds control the universe. This film is part documentary part fictional story.
Mike Rupert
This guy currently lives in exile in Venezuela. He is a former LAPD cop who came out and told how the CIA was importing drugs into the country. He has a great understanding about the US intelligence community and how drugs fuel the global economy.
What I learned about US foreign Policy
Every one should already know these things, but with our system, education destroys knowledge and this documentary, albeit pretty damn dry, reminds us about the horrible murderers who we have in charge of our country and the very public foreign policy nightmares they have been exposed in during the last 40 years.
The Story of Stuff
Great quick film... 15 minutes on the way our society treats the world... unsustainably in case you were wondering.
Iraq for Sale
The war in Iraq has been extremely profitable for some contractors. This documentary sheds light on what is happening with our grand children’s tax dollars.
Terror Storm
This film documents the governments of the world and their role with “false flag” terror operations. 9-11 is the center piece of the film but it also does interesting work on the British subway bombing which you will learn some very interesting things about. The film maker is a Texas Radio host named Alex Jones whose website; PrisonPlanet.com is a Mecca of conspiracy theory knowledge. Available online.
Peace Propaganda and the Promised Land
This movie is a great view on the situation in Israel and Palestine and how Americans are given a very controlled message about it. Available online.
Life in Debt
The only item on this list that I discovered thanks to the education I pay for. This is a documentary explaining the way the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is utilized to trap developing nations in debt.
The Corporation
According to US law, a corporation is a legally a person, this documentary shows how if that were true we would put them all in mental asylums.
The Century of the Self
This film is about the corporate and government propaganda machine and its evolution over the course of the 20th century
Forbidden Topic
Check this film out on BrassCheckTV.com. It is long but very interesting. If the title suggests anything, be ready to abandon any trust in our standard version of history.
