I am a man and am offended by Military Sexual Violence!!

![]() So I have been working on trying to help Suzanne Swift with her fight for Justice for some time now and this latest email has me very upset. In it she speaks of just fighting to STAY IN THE ARMY despite the fact that it was the Army that was the cause of her being a victim of Military Sexual Violence. Now I spent a long time in the military and did all the stupid macho bullshit but really this woman was forced to have sex with her chain of command under the threat of her life the entire year she was in Iraq and now SHE is the one facing a DISHONORABLE DISCHARGE? Now the things I did in Iraq have little to do with honor and for that matter the army to me has no honor though this is not to say that those joining are not under this impression (which is fed by every piece of propaganda put out by the army). Where in the sam hell is the honor in putting a rape victim on trial or making her chose between getting the benefits that would come with her staying in the Army for another year and her mental and physical health? I am a man and I am offended by Military sexual Violence and that is why I work on Suzanne's case! That was easy for me having had the influence of so many great women on my life but where is the outcry from every women's group in America? Where is the outcry from every service members organization out there? Where the fuck is our congress? Why is IVAW and the peace movement the only ones addressing this issue? If it were a senators daughter who was raped I bet she would not be on trial for her life! Now we may not all have sisters or a girlfriend or any woman in our lives but at some point we all had a mom (a lot of us still do) and what if it were your mom on trial what would you do? I bet you would not be silent I know that! So please speak up and let the world know Suzanne's life is important and that we will not be silent about it. This is not a women's issue it is a human issue and if we men do not stop raping, and committing acts of military sexual violence then we can never keep our mothers from being victims. Please stand up and say REAL MEN DON'T SEXUALLY ABUSE WOMEN! Call and write your representative in the house and senate demanding an honorable medical discharge for SPC Swift! if you don't who will?
