My fight to be a Conscientious Objector is not over. Granted I was released from the army as a CO but every time I look down at my paycheck, I read the amount of money I just gave to the war.
My participation in war is now of supply not paratrooper. This must end.
The Religious Freedom Peace Tax Fund Act H.R. 1921 will bring all of our Conscientious Objectors true freedom from active support of war. With H.R. 1921 CO's would pay their taxes like everyone else except all of our funds will go to social services NOT the military that is occupying 144 countries around the world. With the money freed up by the CO's we can have free health care, free education, livable wages, and affordable housing for EVERYONE. We can stop feeding hatred and fear and build a new day where love and courage are the priorities of our society.
Some people say that our military gives us Freedom of Speech. That is a lie. My courage and intelligence dictate what comes out of my mouth and it is the same for everyone else.
Some people sat that it gives us Freedom of Religion. That is a lie. Jesus taught us to love our enemies and to turn the other cheek. He also taught that to remove a splinter out of our brothers eye we must first take a look at the log in our own eye. That means to find out why our brothers in the middle east hate us so much, we must first look at ourselves. And what I see is a country where the military spends more on war than anything else. A country where CO's still have to fund the violence that we oppose with religious or moral conviction. There is no Religious Freedom in America. We must create it. Gather all your forces and descend onto the offices of your officials and the media to DEMAND RELIGIOUS FREEDOM. Just because we dropped violence out of our conflict resolution tool bag doesn't mean we can't fight with words. Carry the love in your hearts and the knowledge in your minds and your breath will carry the divine. PEACE, JUSTICE, and REVOLUTION
