Joyce Wagner

Joyce served as a Marine from 2002-2008 and was the first woman in her shop, and one of the first women marines to serve at Camp Korean Village in Western Iraq in 2004. After experiencing and witnessing gross inequity amongst service members based on gender, sexuality, and race, she could no longer see the military as a force that could "free" anyone. She completed her contract and was honorably discharged from the IRR in September of 2009. She holds a BA in Cultural Studies and Visual Art (with a concentration on the Middle East and Women's Studies) from Chatham College for women, and is working toward a Master of Fine Arts in Film and Digital Technology from Chatham University. When not pushing the use of hi-tech integrated task management systems on the board of directors, Joyce enjoys making and trading zines, rollerskating and roller derby, and is a proud, hard-working single mom.
